The wizard Isaac, “video-game style”

Isaac is the middle-aged wizard who taught my warrior woman Rivka how to swordfight, before accidentally falling in love with her because she got so good at it. He’s mysterious and secretive, and speaks in an unusually deep and resonant voice.

He has to hold his sword in his left hand even though he’s right-handed, because he got injured in battle a long time ago and he can’t close his fingers on his right hand anymore. Like Rivka and everyone else from her backstory, he’s supposed to be an Askhenazi Jew and his native language is Yiddish. (Technically, his name is really יצחק.)

Drawn by RileyAv. Commission Riley here. If you’re lucky you can even watch her livestream drawing it!

Isaac and Rivka are characters from my published novel The Second Mango, a fantasy novel with an all-Jewish cast, romance, friendship, and dragons.
